Louisville Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Bulls Invitational
Louisville is one of 24 schools in action in Tampa, Fla.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
The University of Louisville track and field teams open their 2012 outdoor seasons at the Bulls Invitational this week in Tampa, Fla., at the USF Track and Field Stadium on campus of
the University of South Florida.
The two-day event begins on Thursday, March 15, and continues on Friday, March 16. Results will be available on UofLsports.com following the meet. Twenty-four schools will
have student-athletes in action.
On Thursday, the lone event the Cardinals will participate in will be the hammer throw. Patrice Gates and Hannah Baker will take part in the women’s competition at 3 p.m.
and Sam Bombaugh and Brad Vivace throw at 5 p.m.
Louisville opens Friday with the jumping events, starting with the women’s long jump at 10 a.m. After the men’s long jump and the women’s triple jump, Patrice Gates and
Jenna Wargo will compete in the javelin at 11:30 a.m.
The field events continue with the women’s pole vault followed by the men’s shot put and the women’s discus. All-American Chinwe Okoro will throw in the discus event alongside
teammates Khadija Abdullah, Amashi Kendall and Baker. Kendall recently earned All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Michelle Theophille, who also earned indoor All-America accolades, leads a quartet of women’s jumpers in the high jump at 2 p.m., with the men’s pole vault and women’s triple
jump after that.
The running events commence at 2:30 p.m., beginning with Cassie Martin in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase. The middle-distance and distance events are up next, including
Madie Davidson, Maria Frigo, Luke Lovelace, Ryan Eaton, Andrew Stewart and Mattias Wolter in their respective 1,500m races.
Later in the day, Ahlivia Spencer is slated to compete in the women’s 400m, while Marcellus Hobbs, Calvin Arsenault and Emmanuel Matadi will race on the men’s side.
Louisville concludes the day with the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay races, the men’s discus and the women’s shot put.
