LeGassey added to 2012-13 recruiting class
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Head coach Chris Bucknam and the No. 2 University of Arkansas men’s track and field team has announced the addition of Ken LeGassey to the program’s signee class for the 2012-13 season. LeGassey is the seventh member of this year’s
Razorback recruiting class, the fourth for Bucknam and his staff.
LeGassey joins a 2012-13 Razorback recruiting class that already includes Kemoy Campbell (Manchester, Jamaica/South Plains College), Stefan Fennell (Kingston, Jamaica), current
high school teammate Eric Janise (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS), Stanley Kebenei (Nakura, Kenya/Iowa Central CC), Jarrion Lawson (Texarkana, Texas/Liberty-Eylau HS) and Cale Wallace (Houston, Texas/Cypress-Ranch HS).

Personal Best: High Jump – 6-10
LeGassey hails from The Woodlands, Texas, and specializes in the high jump. He was the top-ranked high jumper in the United States earlier this month to begin his senior year.
During his junior season for the Highlanders, LeGassey was the District 14-5A champion and went on to finish in fourth place at the UIL Region II-5A Championships. He was the district runner-up in high jump as a freshman and sophomore for The Woodlands.
At the 2011 Nike High School Track and Field National meet, LeGassey turned in a third-place performance. He also tied the high jump meet record at the 2011 LSU Relays. LeGassey
began his senior campaign with a personal-best clearance of 6-10 at the Tomball Relays. His individual success has helped The Woodlands to District 14-5A team titles over the past three years and a No. 9 national ranking in 2011.
LeGassey was high school teammates with current Razorback All-Americans Drew Butler and Travis Southard at The Woodlands High School, which also produced current Razorbacks
Layne Nixon and Ben Skidmore. LeGassey is the son of Ernest and Joy LeGassey and has one older sibling, Kimberly.
What Bucknam says about LeGassey: “Ken is a highly motivated and bright young man. We see tremendous
potential in him and are very confident he’s going to be a great addition to our program. Once again, The Woodlands High School has produced some very good talent. Current Razorback All-Americans Ben Skidmore, Travis Southard and Drew Butler are from there,
as well as signee Eric Janise. Year in and year out, their program and coaches continue to produce exceptional track and field athletes. Ken is of that same mold and we are excited he has chosen to join us as a Razorback.”
