Ducks Pick Up Eight Wins at John Knight Twilight
MONMOUTH, Ore. – Oregon’s younger competitors shone as the Ducks collected eight wins Friday night at the John Knight Twilight at McArthur Track.
Tyler Pinkney led a 1-2 finish in the menÂ’s triple jump. The junior from Everett, Wash., jumped a seasonal-best 47-7.35/14.51m. Sophomore Caleb Kruse was next at 45-10.75/13.99m. Oregon made it a sweep of the triple jump when junior Maggie Pietka won the womenÂ’s competition at 38-2/11.63m.
Alexandria Davidson was a double winner on Friday at Western Oregon University. The junior from DuPont, Wash., won the 100 meters in 12.02 and then came back to take the 200 in 24.98.
Other winners for the Ducks Friday night included freshman Johnathan Cabral, who won the menÂ’s 400 hurdles the 53.44. The Calabasas, Calif., missed his seasonal best by a tenth of a second.
The Ducks also swept the pole vault competition. Freshman Anginae Monteverde took the womenÂ’s title at 12-7.5/3.85m, which was an Oregon best for the Fresno, Calif., native, while junior Austin Ouderkirk took the menÂ’s pole vault with a clearance at 16-0/4.88m.
Laura BobekÂ’s busy night included a win in the womenÂ’s shot put with a mark of 47-3/14.40m. The sophomore from Astoria, Ore., also had a 12-foot personal best in the hammer with a fourth-place throw of 162-4.25/49.48m and was the runner-up in the discus with a toss of 156-11/47.82m.
In other action, sophomore Cole Watson ran a :05 PR in the menÂ’s 3,000 meter steeplechase to finish second in 9:12.78.
Sophomore Tanner Harris had a big personal-best in the hammer. The Eugene, Ore., native threw 185-6.75/56/55m to place second. In the womenÂ’s hammer, Daphne Chamber just missed a personal best in a third-place finish. The freshman from Springfield, Ore., threw 169-6.5/51.67m.
Junior Taylor Wallace led a 2-3-4 finish in the womenÂ’s 1,500 meters. Wallace crossed the line in 4:33.62, followed by freshmen Molly Grabill in 4:33.86 and Claudia Francis in 4:34.02.
Sophomore Daniel Winn was the runner-up in the menÂ’s 800 meters in 1:55.54, while sophomore Ben DeJarnette was second in his first collegiate 10,000 meters in 30:28.68.
