Buckley 9th, Jumpers All-America on Day Three

DES MOINES, Iowa. - Indiana got four more All-Americans on day three at the NCAA Championships, as Kyla Buckley led the way with a ninth-place finish in the womenÂ’s shot put for second-team All-America. Emma Kimoto in the womenÂ’s high jump and Rex Parker and Olu Olamigoke in the menÂ’s triple jump joined Buckley with second-team All-America performances of their own. IndianaÂ’s men are in 25th place after three days with eight points. Four Hoosiers are in finals on Saturday with opportunities to score.
 
Buckley took ninth in the shot put, surpassing her career best coming into the meet four times on the day. She threw 16.98m (55-8.5) for her best mark, which ranks third in IU history in the event. The junior earned second-team All-America honors in her first NCAA appearance.
 
Kimoto tied for 13th in the high jump, clearing 1.79m (5-10.5). The junior had just one miss while clearing three bars on her way to 1.79m, but was unable to clear what would have been a new IU record at 1.83m (6-0). The junior will collect second-team All-America honors in her first NCAA meet appearance.
 
In the triple jump, Rex Parker jumped 15.67m (51-5) for 13th place, and Olu Olamigoke jumped 15.64m (51-3.75) for 14th place. The two Hoosiers will earn second-team All-America honors for their efforts.
 
In the menÂ’s 5,000m, Ben Hubers was 19th in 14:13.80. He finished just five seconds out of 16th and second-team All-America honors.
 
Indiana conclude action at the NCAA Championships Saturday. Andy Bayer runs in the 1,500m final and Adrien Dannemiller, Andrew Poore and DeÂ’Sean Turner run in the 3,000m steeplechase final. For complete coverage of all things IU track and field, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
