Jette Beermann cruised from second to first, passing Washington's Ava Earl, in a terrific College Women's 5000m Championship race at the 2024 Penn Relays. Beermann, a distance runner from Elon track and field, finished with a time of 15:42.30, while Earl finished second overall at 15:42.72.

North Carolina track and field teammates Will Coogan and Patrick Anderson, a little more than a year after a near-fatal car accident, made headlines with their performances Thursday in the College Men's 5,000-Meter Championship at the 2024 Penn Relays.

The 2024 Penn Relays presented by Toyota is the 128th edition of the storied event, and it will bring more than 15,000 athletes from multiple age groups to Franklin Field in Philadelphia for three intense and exciting days of competition from April 25-27.

The 2024 Mike Fanelli Track Classic is the 15th edition of the event, which began in 2008 as the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
